More importantly, how are you going to achieve your goal or goals?

I work with individuals every day on the topic of goals. Throughout the entire year, I use this time, this day (January 1) as a classic example of how to fail at setting a goal. What is the #1 goal people set on January 1 every year? How about, “I want to lose weight.” Right? Are you one of those people? I have bad news. When expressed like that, it is a wish, not a goal.

A goal must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bounded. SMART. Many of you have heard of SMART Goals. How many of you are applying them to your career or your job search? If you are, that’s great. If not, or if you need help, feel free to reach out to me.

Stay tuned. I’ll soon be conducting a live webinar on the topic of SMART Goals for A More Perfect Career.
